Flat Roofing

A flat roof has become a popular alternative roofing solution in recent years due to advances in the techniques and materials used in their construction. This means that they can effectively keep out water from extreme weather conditions and maintain the temperature of their structure during colder weather. They are ideal for smaller structures such as extensions and garages.

We use the best materials in the construction of our flat roofs, from felt to rubber depending on your specific needs. Our team at Acorn Roofing & Driveways Ltd are professional and friendly, providing an excellent service for the Berkshire area. GRP Fibreglass

We are approved installers of GRP Fibre Glass. This is a single-ply flat roof system which is a high performance synthetic membrane, ideal for extensions and small buildings such as garages. Fibreglass flat roofing solutions do not rely on the typical materials found in felt roofing to bond and join them, such as bitumen. This can increase the life span of the flat roof.

A fibreglass roof can be a cost-effective solution, providing great flexibility by using a composite material made from reinforced polyester resin. This forms a tough, versatile, long-lasting layer which can be applied to an existing flat roof and new building project.

EPDM Rubber Roofing

EPDM, which stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer, is well-known for its strength and durability, including excellent thermal insulation and water resistance. Unlike other rubber materials, EPDM is a stable compound with no odour or fumes.

EPDM is available as a reinforced mix or an un-reinforced mix. The material consists of the main compounds ethylene and propylene. A flexible rubber matrix is formed when a small amount of diene is added to the mix. Rubber roofing is becoming a popular choice due to its durability and flexibility, making it easy to shape to almost any surface.

Felt Roofing

The most common and traditional material for flat roofing is felt. It is composed of bitumen that has been mixed with sand or limestone. It is often heated with a torch as it is being installed. Felt is an affordable and long-lasting solution when compared to other roofing materials. They are common on small buildings such as garden sheds, but is also a cost-effective alternative for house extensions and roof terraces.

The lifespan of a felt roof is generally between 10-15 years. In addition to new felt roofs, we can replace your old roof once it has reached the end of its lifespan.

Membrane Roofing

Membrane roofing is suitable choice for flat roofs that require an impenetrable barrier. This can include a number of residential, commercial and industrial buildings, such as warehouses, factories, restaurants, high-rise buildings and retail stores. Membrane roofing provides the best protection from water and other contaminants, including chemicals, grease and loose debris.

Our membrane roofing solutions are high quality at a competitive price. We can guarantee a long lifespan and protection for years to come.

Liquid Membrane Coating

Liquid coatings have been developed over recent years to give very high levels of adhesion and in the right situation that they form a very high quality roofing membrane. Liquid coatings are applied by brush or roller whilst still cold and contain glass fibre or polyester in layers of liquid.

We can apply a liquid coating to your flat roof to provide extra protection. Not sure what flat roofing solution is best for you? No problem. Give us a call using the number below and we can discuss your needs further.
